Happy 1st Birthday Emily!

On Sat, June 14th, we celebrated Emily's first birthday!  We had her party at Nana and Pop's lake house.  She really enjoyed all her company, her gifts, and her favorite part, her birthday cake!  For those that don't know, Emily loves to eat.  At one time with icing and cake all over her mouth and hands, she looks over at John and I and says, "mmmmm!"  That might have been better than any of her gifts!!  Here are some pictures and videos of the special event.

Emily's First Haircut

A few weeks ago Emily got her first haircut. She didn't get alot cut off, just the little scragglies that were caused by her newborn hair not falling out. Emily did a great job for her first cut.

HAPPY 5th ANNIVERSARY!!

On May 10th, we celebrated our 5th anniversary.  We celebrated with a trip to Charleston on Memorial Day weekend.  This was Emily's first trip to the beach and she loved it!

Playing Outside

This past weekend, we worked in the yard since it was such a beautiful day.  Me, John, and Caroline started out while Emily was taking a nap.  After she woke up from her 4 HOUR nap, she joined us.  I put a blanket out because she was eating snack.  However, once she was finished with her snack, she decided she liked being in the grass and playing in the dirt better.

Mother's Day Weekend

I had a great first Mother's Day! Emily is great and I enjoy every minute I get to spend with her. I love to see her smile. On Saturday morning, we headed down to SouthPark for GBS 5k Run/Walk. GBS is Guillain-BarrĂ© Syndrome. A couple of years ago I treated a patient with GBS, so each year we participate in this race to raise money for GBS. This year the Bauers and Aunt Suzanne joined us. It was a nice morning. After the race, we went to the lake on the boat. This was Emily's first time on the boat, but not the first time at the lake. She was borrowing this life jacket and was not very fond of it. John was with us all weekend.  We just don't have any pictures of him.  Here are a few pictures from the day.
This is a picture of my patient and his wife.  I'm glad we still keep in touch.
Emily cried halfway through the race and the took a nap for the second half

Getting Into Everythng.....

Emily is now moving very fast and getting into everything.  She crawls to any place that she can
pull up to stand and then cruises along just to see what else she can get into.  She is interested in her toys, but many off-limit items interested her more.  Me, Aunt Suzanne, and Emily went out for a day of shopping one Saturday when John was out of town.  Emily did great and even tolerated trying on a few clothes.  Of course, all the shopping was for her!!  We had a great girl's shopping day!

All dressed up for our day of shopping
Emily loves to stand and go through the day's mail
